Motion Raceworks Rocky Mountain Race Week Daily Coverage: Day One Action From Thunder Valley

Rocky Mountain Race Week is in the books, and we were traveling the route with all these folks so we could bring you the FREE livestream that we had going all week long. It was a week full of fun, adventures, carnage, and more, but even if you were there you wouldn’t have been able to see it all. There is that much going on! But thanks to the folks at Motion Raceworks we’ve got more cool video coverage from the entire week and we’re going to share it all with you one day at a time. They were on-site with their parts merch trailer and were helping people out with great stuff all week long. This is the first video from Day One at Thunder Valley in Noble Oklahoma, which means everyone is racing and there is no on road carnage or anything yet. This is the day where everyone thinks everything is great and that they can win this whole thing. Spirits are high. At least until the racing gets going.

Why? Because some of these poor folks are going to tear their stuff up before they ever get to leave the first track. The good news is that they have all night to work on them because we don’t leave for the next track until the next morning, and the drive isn’t horrible from Thunder Valley to the Texas Motorplex in Ennis. Plus, there is the World’s Largest Summit Racing Equipment store on the way and it’s full of great parts to fix most anything.

Between Summit and the Motion Raceworks trailer full of parts, there was no shortage of new stuff going on hot rods Sunday night.

We had a weekend off and decided we wanted to bring you some good Texas drag racing LIVE and FREE as always, so we’re heading over to our favorite local establishment, Xtreme Raceway Park in Ferris Texas, for some Texas Drag Racing Association action on this Texas Summer Saturday night. They are going to feature Texas Drag Racing Association Nostalgia Eliminator, Nostalgia Super Stock, a $2,500 Big Tire Shootout, the awesome to watch wheelstanding VW Gamblers race, and more! We’re going to be there with Charles Wickam in tow showing you all the action live and grabbing some photos for a photo gallery as well.

Bonneville Speed Week 2021: Our Bonneville Speed Week Photos Start Right Here With The Nugget Car Show Hot Rod Photos!

(Photos by Wes Allison) Bonneville Speed Week 2021 officially starts tomorrow morning with cars, trucks, streamliners, lakesters, and more hauling ass on the salt at Bonneville. But no Bonneville Speed Week is really on before the Nugget Car Show that kicks off Friday night. There are a jillion people that come to Bonneville Speed Week to watch, but the biggest crowd shows up sometime Friday and spend Saturday and Sunday watching the action before heading home to wherever they came from on Sunday night. That means that the Friday and Saturday night car show at the Nugget Casino is THE place to be on Friday night in Wendover and there is plenty of beer flowing to celebrate.

This year promises to be an amazing year at Bonneville with all kinds of new cars making their debut and some old cars coming back out for the first time in years. Plus, the piston engine and wheel-driven all-time records are being aimed at with everything people can throw at them this year. We’ll see how the salt is, but we’re hoping for some big things this year at Bonneville.

As we say, this is our first gallery of photos and we’ll have tons of them coming throughout the week as we have Wes Allison on-site to shoot everything he can point a camera at. We’re going to make sure you have all the photos you could want and are going to start it off right with this gallery tonight and another one in the morning. Check it out!

Finnegan’s Twin Turbo Jet Boat Finally Hauls Some Ass! Watch Out World, Mike Is Going 130 MPH Now!

If you’ve been following along as Finnegan and Newbern thrash on projects, you know that the giant Hemi headed big-block twin-turbo jet boat has been fun but also a bit frustrating. The thing runs great, makes stupid power, and Finnegan has got a handle on the tune, but the problem has been that the boat runs out of water pretty quick and can’t accelerate for long enough to actually make a full drag boat pass. If you can’t get enough water into the jet pump to keep it fed, then it cavitates and stops pushing the boat forward. There are a few ways to get more water into the pump, which Finnegan has gone over on a couple of videos, but while each adjustment has made the boat better, it just hasn’t gotten it working well enough. Until now.

Yep, they’ve made some more adjustments and they are finally all working together and this thing is starting to haul ass!

Unfortunately, those adjustments required a grinder. As if the hull didn’t have a big enough hole in it already? Jet boats have a giant hole in the bottom of them, which is a little un-nerving when you think about the fact that holes in boats are usually not a good thing.

When Last Minute Testing Your Burnout Truck For Cleetus And Cars, Sometimes Your Driveway Becomes The Burnout Pad

Yep, James is no poser, that’s for sure. When under a time crunch to get their LS Swapped S10 Burnout truck, aka Burnie, ready for Cleetus and Cars Burnout Rivals in Indy, sometimes you have to piss off the neighbors. After stealing the trans out of his race car, and going through brake issues and a couple other snags, Burnie was back up and running with just hours to go before leaving for Indy. Of course there were a couple other snags and just an hour before it had to be on the trailer there was testing that needed going. After all, you got to know if there are vibrations, if the new torque converter is okay, and whether the brakes will hold for big time tire frying excitement or not.

Testing was in order and with no time to go anywhere else, the driveway became the burnout pad whether the neighbors liked it or not. Now I happen to know James’ neighborhood. I went there to pick up some tires he hooked me up with for the drive days on Rocky Mountain Race Week in 2019. It’s your average Colorado high desert neighborhood with family homes all around. This is not the country, and it is not remote. It is very close to town.

But the testing had to happen and the results were no vibrations, a tune that needs some tweaks, and brakes that need more bleeding to hold. But most importantly the smoke happened. And lots of it. Watch.

Our FREE LIVE Streaming Video Coverage Of The Spring Fling Million In Las Vegas Continues Today! 5-Days Of FREE RACING!!!

That’s right folks, we’re SUPER excited to be bringing you 5 days of awesome bracket racing from The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway at the 2021 K&N Spring Fling Million presented by Optima Batteries. While the big show starts on Wednesday, we’ll be live on Tuesday afternoon for the American Race Cars, Todd’s Extreme Custom Paint, Dragster Shootout Race. The winner will take home a rolling American Race Cars 240″ Dragster chassis with a complete custom paint job by Todd’s. This is a big shootout for 32 cars and will be the perfect way to start off the weekend here in Vegas.

We will be live Tuesday afternoon, and then all day Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday for all the racing action. Check out the flyer below for details on the payout and event prizes, but know that Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday racers will be going after $30,000 to win. Friday is the big money Million race which has a guaranteed purse of $250,000 to the winner regardless of entries. We’re pretty sure this race is going to be off the hook based on our last west coast race this year. Given the fact that all the heavy hitters are heading cross country for it as well, this promises to be one hell of an event.

Murder Nova’s LS/Procharged 1955 Chevy Maiden Voyage! This Thing Is ROWDY!

I like Rowdy. Especially ProCharged rowdy. I know what that is like because I have a small block with one on it and the thing is just plain nasty, in all the right ways. Shawn and the rest of the Murder Nova gang have been working on this ’55 Chevy for a while now and every time they get something else done on it there seems to be a little more excitement about actually getting to drive it. Well, this is the video. The one where driving the ’55 actually happens! Shawn last drove this car 11 years ago, and while it was driven on the street a bit then, it was definitely not a “street car”.

Hang out with the guys as they build a set of headers for this thing, button up the rest of the little stuff, figure out why one hole isn’t firing, and then light this bad boy off and take it for a cruise around town. Remember, street car, so they are running this one on E85 straight from the pump.  I don’t know how good that E85 is that they are putting in, but it is certainly good enough for cruising around town. I can’t wait to see the first street hits and the fun they have while perfecting their shenaniganary.

The Fall Fling At Galot LIVE Continues Sunday For $125,000!

The Fling events, whether the Spring Fling, Spring Fling Million, Fall Flings, etc, are some of the finest run bracket races in the world. They have arguably changed the landscape of bracket racing in this country as well, because big money bracket races now provide so much more than just round after round of racing action. These events are a party, a celebration of all things racing, and a show of appreciation to the racers who compete week in and week out to see who can come out on top. But in these uncertain times of COVID-19, just getting to hold an event can be a challenge, even before you get a single car through the gate.

Historically though these Fling events have been a riot to watch, and bring life changing prizes, giveaways, and winner purses to the table. We’ve seen the results up close and personal over the years and can’t say enough about just how fun these events are to be a part of. This weeks event hasn’t been without some drama as rain came through yesterday, but that didn’t stop the track crew from getting things ready and putting a surface together that could crown some winners.

The Colonial Classic Bracket Race Is LIVE From Virginia Motorsports Park!

The crew at Virginia Motorsports Park is one of the best in the business, and they were fully set for this weekend’s 7th Annual Colonial Classic, when the rain came. Friday was a wash out as the the water got under the rubber and required a complete track scrape to the 1/8th mile mark before reprepping could begin. Plus more rain was coming Friday early evening. But it is Saturday now, the track crew has tirelessly worked to get this surface into full bitchin mode, and racing is scheduled to start this morning! Friday’s purse will carry over to today so that means the money is going to be even bigger for Saturday nights champion!

This is another Loose Rocker Promotions event, which everyone who attends love, so we’re sure that with their expertise and the unbeatable track crew at VMP, that they will make this weekend great. And who wouldn’t think it was great if they are taking home the win and at least $10,000? That isn’t too shabby, that’s for sure. With the year we have had so far, just getting out and racing is something to be proud of and the crew in Virginia has been diligently working with health officials and local, state, and federal agencies to do everything they can to make the racing environment safe and fun for the racers and fans. We commend them on these efforts as we know they are NOT easy.

So grab a snack, a beverage, and your screen because the racing is scheduled to start any minute!
