An Electric Subaru Brat? Okay, This Is An Electric Vehicle Swap We Think Might Be Real Fun!

The idea of taking a gas or diesel-powered car and making it electric intrigues me. I think it would be a fun project and have been thinking about a few different fun cars to do the conversion on. Of course, I have a jillion other projects going so there isn’t much need to be worrying about anything in the short term, but I certainly think it’s a fun idea and love checking out projects that other people are doing. So when James Fleischman at Flash Drive Motors sent me an email with a link to this Brat build I was intrigued.

Finding out that he’s located just outside of Austin, which is only a few hours drive from me, also made me want to go and play with electric cars so trust me that’s on the list of must-do things this summer.

But back to this project. This one is a Subaru Brat, you know, the little truck that came with the seats in the back. It was in really good shape, as it had been driven on the road up until 2017 but it still needed to get redone. Luckily, Flash Drive is all about restoring cars and not just making them electric. In fact, they will gladly work on your gasoline-powered ride, do EFI conversions, etc.

But I digress! Here are the first two videos in the Electric Brat conversion series, and we’ll have more tomorrow!

Two Owner 1974 Z28 Camaro. It’s Been Sitting For Years But Chad At Nobody’s Auto Just Got This Thing

Chad Ehrlich at Nobody’s Auto in Great Bend Kansas has some awesome steel in the yard, but he’s also got a great collection of cool muscle cars and trucks along with so much memorabilia that you wouldn’t believe it. He buys and sells stuff all the time, but there are special cars that he finds because he scours the mid west in search of anything cool. This 1974 Z28 Camaro is his latest acquisition, and it is a car he’s known about for years. He sent me a text the other day saying he was grabbing it, and was super excited. The cool thing is he knows the owner, and has known him and the car for many years. This one has a great story. Watch the video, and make sure you subscribe to Chad’s YouTube channel. He’s got new videos going up all the time and is a great source for parts, cars, and more. Seriously, look them up they have it all.

Here is all the info from the video description.

This is probably one of my favorite things about doing videos. When I find some of these vehicles, we are able to get the former owner to share their story about the vehicle!!! It really adds to the history and keeps that history available with the car or truck!!! I love this 1974 Z/28 and Jan Shank was kind enough to share his history with car, which dates all the way back to 1976!! Let’s hear what he has to say! If you liked the video, please subscribe to my channel. If you like old cars, trucks, and automobilia, be sure to check out all of my other videos! As always, if you have questions about vehicles or parts, the only way to get a hold of me is to call me, no texts. Thanks for watching, Chad 620-786-4428

Murder Nova’s LS/Procharged 1955 Chevy Maiden Voyage! This Thing Is ROWDY!

I like Rowdy. Especially ProCharged rowdy. I know what that is like because I have a small block with one on it and the thing is just plain nasty, in all the right ways. Shawn and the rest of the Murder Nova gang have been working on this ’55 Chevy for a while now and every time they get something else done on it there seems to be a little more excitement about actually getting to drive it. Well, this is the video. The one where driving the ’55 actually happens! Shawn last drove this car 11 years ago, and while it was driven on the street a bit then, it was definitely not a “street car”.

Hang out with the guys as they build a set of headers for this thing, button up the rest of the little stuff, figure out why one hole isn’t firing, and then light this bad boy off and take it for a cruise around town. Remember, street car, so they are running this one on E85 straight from the pump.  I don’t know how good that E85 is that they are putting in, but it is certainly good enough for cruising around town. I can’t wait to see the first street hits and the fun they have while perfecting their shenaniganary.
