Movie star Matt Damon listed his Zen-inspired mansion in the Pacific Palisades enclave of Los Angeles for $21 million earlier this week as he makes his recently-purchased New York City penthouse his family’s primary pad. The 13,500+-square-foot residence is ultra-private and spacious with plenty of room for entertaining. The listing is represented by Eric Haskell with The Agency, who describes the sprawling home as, “a tropical retreat.” He says, “You don’t feel like you’re in southern California anymore.”

Masterfully crafted, the contemporary estate is encircled by lush landscaping, mature trees and includes flat, grassy yards on .68 acres, which is among the largest homesites in Pacific Palisades. Behind privacy gates lies an artful blend of rich woods and cool natural stones in an architectural masterpiece imagined by Grant Kirkpatrick of KAA Design. Inside is a seven-bedroom, ten-bathroom open floor plan with ample living spaces. The focal point of the home is a 35-foot atrium with mahogany vaulted ceilings.

Natural light floods the common areas, which include a living and dining area with clerestory windows and Asahi glass walls to promote fluid indoor-outdoor living and entertaining.
